What Really Goes Into The Making Of A Gaming Console?

Creating the console blueprints.

Instead, they pass their designs to semiconductor foundries like TSMC, turning silicon wafers into the brain of your console.
These chips are made using photolithography and other ultra-precise processes to carve microscopic circuits into silicon wafers. Once the chips, circuit boards, memory modules, storage, cooling systems and plastics are ready, they head to assembly plants to be put together.
Building the console, testing and packaging.
In the factory, production moves fast. The printed circuit board (PCB) is populated with chips using automated pick-and-place machines. It’s considered the backbone of the console. From there, cooling systems, storage ports, and other hardware are added. The console is placed into its plastic shell. Then, controllers, power supplies and cables are prepared for packaging.
Before any console ever reaches your hands, however, it goes through rigorous testing. Boot-up and performance checks, thermal stress tests and compatibility verifications are conducted. Only perfectly functioning units make it past quality control. Then it’s time for packaging. All of the protective materials, user manuals, power cables, and controllers are boxed up and shipped to warehouses, retailers, stores and online shops.
